Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT)

BHRT treatments are for patients who have less than optimal hormone levels. BHRT is a treatment which uses supplemental doses of hormones that have a chemical structure identical to the hormones that the human body naturally produces.

Patients suffering from symptoms related to menopausal syndrome or other symptoms related to low hormone levels may also benefit from these therapies.

BHRT can be used to augment hormone levels in a number of conditions where diminished hormone levels are evident. The bioidentical hormones are uniquely, tailored by Dr. Loya for each patient through a compounding pharmacy. The prescriptions are based on a series of tests administered by the doctor and are available in a range of set doses.

Many of the bioidentical hormones used are made from soybeans and wild yams, which contain unique compounds that are processed chemically and made into identical replicas of hormones the body produces. They are used for their cost-effectiveness as well as their ability to readily extract compounds and turn them into exact replicas of human hormones.

Hormone Therapies

Estrogen Replacement - There are a number of conditions associated with low levels of estrogen, including osteoporosis and a decline in cognitive functioning. Estrogen therapy may have favorable effects on blood cholesterol and lipid profiles, slow progression of osteoporosis, improve sleep, decrease pain and perhaps cognitive function, improve libido and overall well being.

Testerone Replacement (Men and Women) - Men and women alike have testosterone. Libido problems and impotency are associated with loss of this hormone. Testosterone replacement therapy is used to treat hormone deficiencies, hypogonadism, decrease in fatigue, increase in red blood cells, reduce cholesterol and increased bone strength.

Adrenal Support Therapies: Cortisol, Pregnolone and DHEA
Cortisol - Cortisol is also known as the "stress hormone." Cortisol therapy is used to treat adrenal insufficiency, immune deficiencies and to support the Hypothalamic-pituitary adrenal axis.

Pregnenolone - Having sufficient levels of pregnenolone is important to your cognitive ability and your body uses Pregnenolone to produce the hormones DHEA, testosterone, progesterone and estrogen. This therapy may reduce stress, lessen arthritic inflammation, improve cognitive maintenance, better mood and improve sleep patterns.

DHEA - The most abundant hormone in the body, DHEA is an important factor in the production of other hormones such as progesterone, testosterone and estrogen. DHEA is an immune booster and may be helpful in treating autoimmune disease.

Human Growth Hormone (HGH) - HGH is instrumental in causing growth and repair of skin, kidneys, muscles and other organs. Levels of HGH rise dramatically around puberty, peaks around 20 years and then begin to decline slowly. HGH therapy may help to increase energy levels and vitality, reduce body fat, and increase muscle mass, as well as improving bone production, sleeping better and increasing lifespan.

B12 & Lipo-M - Used to increase energy and aid in the process of fat burning.

Natural Progesterone Replacement - This therapy can ofter protection from endometrial cancers, treatment of irregular menstruation and other low progesterone conditions. Progesterone aids in the development and maintenance of the female reproductive organs. It can also improve sleep quality and decrease anxiety. For males, low dose progesterone therapy in conjunction with testosterone therapy can maximize the hormone ratios reducing side effects.
